How to Measure for Children's Blackout Roman Blinds

It’s easy, just grab a tape measure, pencil and paper. Make a note of the following measurements, then select a fabric of your choice from the fabric collections. A tape measure is recommended for accuracy, just follow these simple instructions:

Measure Blinds Inner Recess (see diagram)

Measure Inner Window

Make sure there are no obstructions e.g. handles which would affect the smooth operation of the blind. Using a steel rule, take three measurements across the width of the recess make a note of the smallest measurement. Do the same for the height(drop) inside the recess again making sure you take the smallest measurement.Deduct 1cm(10mm) from the smallest measurements to ensure that your blind doesn’t fit too tightly within the recess.

You will need these measurements on the order form.

Measure Blinds Outer Recess (see diagram)

Measure Outer Window

It is advisable to allow an overlap of 75mm or 3(inch) to avoid any light gaps around your blind Take the width of the window and add the desired overlap to either side of the blind. Measure the height(drop) of the blind and add the desired overlap to the top and bottom of the blind. If the blind is to sit on a window sill then only add the overlap to the top of the blind.

The Roman Blind System

Roman Blind System

The Roman blind system that all blinds are supplied on is the closed cassette system.

  • The system is extremely robust made from a high quality alluminium with excellant components.
  • Your blind will have quick release rings attached to the bottom of each string. These allow the blind to break free should there be any undue tension placed on the blind.
  • The standard chain is white however for a small additional charge you can have a chrome one. The metal headrail measures 3.7cm deep and 3.2cm front to back

If you require a different chain please telephone through your order on 0113 3910468 or e-mail from the contact page.

Your Roman Blind will be delivered to your door via courier for which a signature is required and is ready to be hung with the universal fixings provided

Child Safety

Child Safety

Child safety is of paramount concern to us at Kidz Collection and as a result we strictly adhere to all the current child safety legislation regarding the chain length and the provision of safety cleats.

To ensure maximum safety all our blinds will come with a chain safety cleat as standard which we strongly recommend you fit as instructed and in addition our blinds are now manufactured with breakaway cord connectors on the reverse of the blind ensuring maximum safety.

All safety devices must be correctly installed for the protection from strangulation of young children and the proper use of the blind. Keep the instructions for future reference. As the end user you have a responsibility to insure the safety device is fitted as per our fitting guides which you will receive with your blind.

If for some reason you do not receive a safety device with your order please contact us at stating your order number, do not fit your blind until you have received the replacement safety cleat.
